 The Final Technical Workshop: The final Workshop was held on 17 December 2005 in Hanoi.

 The Dissemination Workshop: The Dissemination Workshop, titled "Trade Liberalization, Competitiveness, Employment and Poverty in Vietnam" and  was held on 25 November 2005 in Hanoi. Ms. Dang Nhu Van presented main findings of 6 research groups (Presentation 1, Presentation 2, Reports)

 The Final Internal Workshop: The Final Internal Workshop was held on 22 and 23 June 2005 at Heritage Hotel, Ha Long City. Details: Minutes of the workshop, reports (for members only).

 The Second Internal Workshop: The Second Internal Workshop was held on 17 December 2004 at 27 Tran Xuan Soan, Ha Noi. Details: Minutes of the workshop, reports (for members only)

 Video Conference: The video conference were held on 7 June 2004 connecting research groups in Hanoi and International advisers in Quebec, Canada and  Hague, The Netherlands.

  Training on Econometrics and STATA program: VERN Office organized a 2-week training course on Essentials of Econometrics and Data Analysis using STATA.

 Internal Section: We have created an area for VERN's Researchers.  

 The First Internal Workshop: The First Internal Workshop was held in Hue City on 17 March 2004.  

 Second Mission of International Advisors: Dr. John Cockburn and Dr. Remco H. Oostendorp spent four days (October 31 - November 1, 2003) to work with VERN Office and research groups. The trip Report by John and Remco was distributed to research teams.

 October 8-10, 2003: A member of the Local Technical Assistance team attended an "APEC Capacity-Building Workshop on Quantitative Methods for Assessing Non-tariffs Measures and Trade Facilitation" held in Bangkok during October 8-10, 2003. 

 First Mission of the International Advisor: Dr. Remco H. Oostendorp spent two weeks (September 23 - October 6, 2003)  to work with VERN Office and research groups. For details, please see the Minutes of Common Working. The trip Report by Remco was distributed to research teams.

 Online Trade Database: We have launched Vietnam Trade Database in July 2003. At the first period the Data base covers data for years 1994, 1995, 1997 and 1998. VERN's members will have full access to the database. You could join our network by fill out the registration FORM.

At the year end the Data could be updated with data of years 1999, 2000 and 2001. We would highly appreciate if you could spare sometimes to give comments.

 Second Round of selection: The second meeting of the Selection Committee was held on 16 June, 2003. Based on the result of the meeting and after consulting the Advisory Group, the VERN's Director decided to select five proposals for research implementation. The sixth one could be selected based on the improvement of the proposal by the group of HCMC National University.

 First round of selection: The first meeting of the Selection Committee was held on 17 February, 2003. Based on the result of the meeting and after consulting the Advisory Group, the VERN's Director decided to select eight ideas for the second round of selection. Selected groups have two months to prepare detailed proposal. The dateline for submitting detailed proposals is 20 May 2003.

 Decision on Selection Committee: The VERN's Director, Dr. Do Hoai Nam, signed a Decision on Setting up the Selection Committee, on 11 February 2003. The Committee consists of nine members from international and national Institutions/Universities.

 Research Ideas: As at 31 December 2002, the VERN's Office has received 35 research Ideas from 22 Institutions. The Selection meeting will be held on 17 February 2003. They will choose up to 9 the most promising – in terms of scientific contribution, policy relevance and feasibility – research ideas for the next step. Chosen Ideas will be posted here and informed to the winners right after the Meeting.

 9 December 2002: Workshop in Ho Chi Minh City, Introduce the VERN operation and call for Research Ideas. Ten researchers from Government Agencies, Institutes and Universities participated. 8 November 2002: Workshop in Hanoi, Introduced the VERN operation and called for Research Ideas. Twenty-five participants coming from various Ministries, Institutes, and Universities attended the workshop. (Venue: The Institute of Economics, 27 Tran Xuan Soan, Hanoi).
