INVITATION TO INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON

               "CREATING GLOBAL COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE"

                         August 7 - 8, 2004

                           Udaipur, India

The International Conference on "Creating Global Competitive Advantage" is to be held during August 7-8, 2004 in Udaipur, India and will be jointly organized by the LaxPra Foundation, India; New England Business Administration Association (NEBAA), Southern Connecticut University, USA and International Centre for Excellence and Competitive Advantage (ICECA), UK.

TOPICS:

The topics of the Conference will deal with the full length  and breadth of the concept of global competitive advantage (GCA). Till off late the literature on competitive advantage has not covered all the interwoven issues     comprehensively. Firm specific factors have been researched in detail but the new dimensions seek a fresh discussion. Emerging trends in the economic environment have altered many of the established games of the rule. The country cases of China and India have proved that the governance has a great bearing on the firm-specific-factors as well as chance factors. New research shows that governments leverage the firm and industry competitiveness in a significant way. Studies on regionalization of trade show that regionalization has emerged as a significant dimension of GCA. Economic integration offers tremendous opportunities but not everyone is benefiting equally. Hence, the Conference deals with GCA in a comprehensive manner but with a special focus on:

     1. International economic governance (WTO etc.) and changing contours of competitive advantage
     2. Regionalization and GCA
     3. Governance and global competitiveness
     4. Special focus on LDCs/Small island economies
     5. Competitiveness paradoxes
     6. History, culture, society and competitiveness
     7. Strategy and management advances.

The Conference will probe and interrogate the issues pertaining to the economic development agenda of all the developing economies and will deliberate on the answers to those intricate issues. The Conference provides a forum to highlight the issues and draw a wider group of participants into the research and policy debate. It will be an opportunity to explicate the new interfaces of global competitive advantage at global, regional, national, industry and firm levels. The conference aims at showing the different approaches of global competitiveness and economic development research and the interaction amongst Industry, Government and University world over. The Conference will host representatives of the Economic, Industrial, Academic and Political sphere, coming from the five continents. The ensuing Third World participation in the event is certainly going to bring added laurels to it.
